DP 16 is an incredible show. This particular performance is unique in several ways, and I think the most important of which is the new material. They do 6 of the 8 tunes on Workingman’s a full 8 months before the album is even released. I did not realize that until today. So what you have here, is a infant state of Casey, Dire, Cumberland, Easy Wind, and High Time with a UJB jam. If you think about that for a second, they had not even recorded the material yet, and they were doing it on stage…They had been doing many of those tunes since summer, but I still think that takes some balls.. The second set is really though, where it is at.....You get a nice Feelin Groovy out of DS, the TOO, the UJB jam, the whole thing.….Awesome….I love this one. A really great time for the band and a fantastic show. Cheers!

Also, Pig don’t care if she’s only 13 years of age on this evening….Jeez

GIVE IT A SPIN ON THIS TDIH

Oh no , so it aint so Sko , but I gave this DP away . I remember waiting nearly breathless with excitement for this one to arrive in the mail . I hadn't heard the show before , it is in my wheelhouse of an era I love , and look at the set list . I assume ( always dangerous ground ) that this was a Bear production . Whoever was at the board , this was not a good night at the office . I found the sound to be muddy and sterile . The embryonic jams are just that , embryonic . The heavy hitters ( D/S , TOO ) just don't find the mojo . The crossover between eras that this show represents is more of a cross up as the heart may have been willing , but the fingers and ears were not . And 13 years old Pig ? Wowza . That is a different cultural context 41 years later . One of my least favs of '69 . I'm sure fire and brimstone is headed my way ( or cop hassles and stupidity in dhead land ).

I would agree the board is not the greatest, and Cumberland is really weak, but not even disc 3 Micah?? I am actually kinda suprised....That Caution Jam is ridiculous!!
